About

Sustainable Transformation is a systemic process integrating governance, innovation, technology, policy and human development to create resilient, intelligent and sustainable systems.

Context

Sustainable transformation has become a significant field of interdisciplinary research, connecting governance, economics, data science, artificial intelligence, energy, the environment and public policy in order to study, design and evaluate solutions that support digital transition, green transition and sustainable development.

In Vietnam the twin transition, digital and green, has become a central direction in renewing the growth model. It is set out in Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, in the National Green Growth Strategy for 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050, and in the commitment to net zero emissions by 2050.

Carrying these directions through places new demands on firms, localities and public agencies as they design and implement transformation solutions that are both sustainable and inclusive. The group was formed to develop the interdisciplinary research those demands call for, building on researchers with complementary expertise and on an established network of universities, research institutes, firms and international organisations.

Vision

The group aims to become a strong interdisciplinary research group of Vietnam National University, Hanoi in the field of sustainable transformation, recognised both nationally and internationally. By 2035 it intends to be an interdisciplinary research hub capable of creating new knowledge, carrying out high-quality research, providing scientific evidence for policy making and advancing knowledge transfer for sustainable development.

Mission

The group's mission is to develop interdisciplinary knowledge, models and solutions that advance the sustainable transformation of firms, organisations and localities; to provide scientific evidence for policy making; to advance innovation and knowledge transfer; to train high-quality research personnel; and to widen collaboration and strengthen the academic standing of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
